The other day I got to thinking: Geez, everyone just seems mad these days. A random guy flipped me off for no apparent reason on the road (yes, there are moments when someone might have a reason, but this time, I was innocent). People are tense, and tired, and freaking stressed out. Our world is tired and stressed out.
And then, the other night at parent-teacher conferences, I was chatting with a student and her mom. This particular child has an absolute light in her - she is so intensely kind and genuine, especially to some students with special needs. For a seventh grader, that's no small feat. And as we talked, we discussed the fine art of just being nice.
As we near the cold and wet months in the Pacific Northwest, and approach the holidays, it's my sincere hope that my jewelry provides happiness to those who order it or receive it as a gift. I love creating for you and am so incredibly humbled when anyone chooses something I've made.
To continue on that intent of kindness, each order this fall will equal a meal donated to the Portland Rescue Mission. Someone in need will get a meal and a smile. It's just nice.
